Fiocruz and bioMérieux are opening on Monday (10) a diagnostics research and innovation center in Jacarepagua (RJ).
The French company ceded the entire space to the organization, which will begin work there in March 2026.
The center will include research and development projects for inputs and diagnostic kits for the unified support system. Fiocruz says the initiative will expand production capacity, modernize technologies, automate processes, and include new technology transfer projects.
The organization also states that the space will reduce production time and enhance national independence in diagnostics.
Fiocruz President Mario Moreira said the agreement reinforces the historic partnership between Brazil and France. The center is “a strategic step to expand the national capacity for production and innovation in the field of diagnostics,” with a direct impact on confronting health emergencies. According to him, the goal is to offer tools that are “accurate, timely and sustainable”, in line with technological progress.
