Palmeiras left the Estadio Monumental in Lima with the South American runners-up Libertadores after losing 1-0 to Flamengo.

As Alverde’s side fell silent after the final whistle, Flaco Lopez was the first Palmeiras player to speak to the press after the match.

The Argentine striker realized the difficulty of the final match and stressed that the match was characterized by balance between the two sides.

It was a tough match, decided by a dead ball – he said, referring to the only goal in the match.

Flacco was also keen to appreciate the team’s effort during the 90 minutes, explaining the team’s dedication.

– We tried, and left everything, but unfortunately we did not reach it – he said depressed.

Despite his frustration, the striker stressed the need to absorb the result to move forward. “It’s acceptable,” he declared.

Flaco Lopez also took the opportunity to praise the greatness of Palmeiras and the way the team deals with the competitions in which it competes.

– Palmeiras is always fighting for big titles and we will continue to try – he added:

The Argentine player’s talk could be related to the quest for the Brazilian League title. Palmeiras occupies second place and needs a negative sequence from Flamengo itself to have a chance to win the championship, in addition to achieving victories in the last two remaining rounds of the 2025 edition.

However, Flamengo’s simple win in the next match, against Ceara at the Maracanã, could actually end Alverde’s title dream.
