Flamingo He wants the use of artificial turf in professional competitions to end and for teams to lose points in the tournament Sustainability Football System (SSF)The financial fair play model Brazilian Football Confederation (Brazilian Federation) He seeks to put it into practice. The club’s proposals were made through an official memorandum issued on Monday.
According to the Rio team, the ten proposals, which were submitted to the Brazilian Confederation Committee responsible for the matter, seek to contribute to improving governance and sustainability practices in Brazilian football.
Among them, two attract the most attention. In the first, the club believes that teams that are in the judicial recovery phase must lose points until the agreement is approved, so that there is no competitive gain for other teams.
“Preventing clubs from using the period of non-payment of debts (between the RJ/REJ Decree and the approval of the agreement) as a competitive advantage, and preventing the registration of new athletes during this period and the loss of points.”
The second and most controversial concerns artificial turf in professional competitions. According to the club, plastic turf affects the physical condition of the players and also generates a disparity in financial resources in terms of maintenance costs compared to teams that choose to use natural turf.
The club announced in the official memorandum: “Plastic pitches must be immediately removed from all professional national tournaments. The discrepancy in maintenance costs between natural and artificial pitches causes financial imbalances between clubs and harms the physical health of players and athletes.”
In October this year, the Brazilian Confederation established a working group that brings together clubs and federations to discuss the fair play model. The final proposal drawn up by the body that governs Brazilian football will be unveiled on November 26.
