With its 6-0 victory over Sao Paulo on Thursday at the Maracana Stadium in the Brazilian Championship, Fluminense secured seventh place in the tournament, and thus the classification in the preliminary stages of the 2026 Libertadores Championship. This will be the club’s fifth participation in the competition in the past six years.

By winning the Libertadores for the first time in 2023, the tri-colour team went on to compete in the tournament four times in a row (2021 to 2024). After fighting against relegation and finishing 13th in the Brazilian Championship last year, the team will participate in the South American Championship in 2025.
