A 12-year-old boy was injured by glass shards and an 11-year-old girl suffered severe stress after the drone attack in Kharkiv, while medical and emergency services continue to treat thirteen injured, including these two minors. The incident, details of which were published by Europa Press, targeted private homes in this city located in eastern Ukraine, and also led to the death of four people.
According to information published by Europe Press, the attack was recorded on Sunday after 16 missiles were fired via a Jeeran-2 drone. The governor of the Kharkiv Military District, Oleg Senegubov, reported that rescue teams found many victims among the rubble resulting from the bombing, and that they were still working to find potential survivors. The homes affected by the attack were completely destroyed, making search and relief efforts difficult.
The official tally, as reported by Europa Press, puts the number of people who lost their lives at four, namely three women aged 69, 61 and 41 and a 55-year-old man. In addition to the deaths, thirteen injuries were reported: five with physical injuries of varying severity and seven people treated for acute stress reactions at the scene of the attack. Two of these injuries required hospitalization, while the rest were treated and released from the scene. Among the minors affected, Europa Press highlighted that a 12-year-old boy was injured by glass shards and an 11-year-old girl was helped due to the psychological effects resulting from the attack.
Governor Senegubov had earlier reported that a fire had broken out in the Shevchenkivsky district, due to the influence of drones, which further complicated rescue operations. Europe Press noted that the smoke and fire recorded in the area complicated access to emergency services, while concern is growing about the possibility of discovering more victims under the rubble of destroyed homes.
According to Europe Press, this event is in addition to a series of attacks using drones and guided munitions carried out by Russian forces on residential areas in Ukraine, which has increased levels of tension in the region. The destruction of homes and collateral damage to the civilian population has generated new requests for humanitarian assistance and increased demand for security support. Local authorities maintain emergency equipment deployed and provide medical and psychological care to those affected, while residents remain on alert in anticipation of new attacks.
This episode of violence coincides with the development of negotiations in Geneva between representatives of the United States, Ukraine and allied European countries, which aim to strengthen the search for a solution to the conflict with Russia. According to Europa Press, these talks are based on the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, although no significant progress has yet been reported.
The impact of the aggression in Kharkiv reflects the continued military escalation and the increased use of drone technology to launch attacks targeting civilian infrastructure. Officials in the regional government and rescue teams confirm the seriousness of the damage to the civilian population and the extent of the material losses in the town. As Europe Press noted, the situation requires the continued mobilization of resources and the adaptation of response strategies in the face of the continuing threat of new explosions.
Rescue operations are still focusing on the most affected areas, with the aim of locating survivors and potential victims under the rubble, while evacuation and emergency assistance protocols remain active. Health and civil protection authorities strengthened care for those affected emotionally, given the increase in bouts of stress and crises after the attack. All this, according to Europa Press, forms a panorama of growing uncertainty and pressure on residents and local services in Kharkiv.
