France condemned on Tuesday (11/11/2025) “military operations” in the Caribbean, the same day the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, and its strike group arrived in the region, adding that they “ignore international laws.”
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in the Canadian city of Niagara-on-the-Lake, where a two-day meeting of the G7 countries began today, that France is concerned about the situation.
“We have noted with concern the military operations in the Caribbean region because they ignore international laws,” Barrow said.
“We have followed with concern the military operations in the Caribbean region because they violate international law and because France has a presence in this region through its external territories, where more than a million of our citizens reside,” Barrow told reporters after arriving in the Canadian city where the G7 is meeting.
“Therefore, they may be affected by the instability caused by any escalation, which is what we clearly want to avoid,” Barrow added.
The warning from the head of French diplomacy comes on the same day that the American ship USS Gerald R. Ford and her strike group were sent to the Caribbean on an official mission to support attacks by US forces against ships supposedly transporting drugs.
But analysts and politicians have warned that the United States may be planning military action against Venezuela.
In this sense, the Venezuelan regime headed by Nicolas Maduro announced on Tuesday the deployment of about 200,000 soldiers throughout the country to defend itself against “imperialist threats.”
The US military has so far carried out at least 19 attacks against suspected drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean and off the Pacific coast of Latin America, killing at least 76 people.
