FutureClimate and IPÊ are collaborating on restoration efforts

FutureClimate and IPÊ — Pesquisas Ecológicas Institute have signed a cooperation agreement to promote large-scale carbon and forest restoration projects in the Cantarera system area. This initiative reinforces the institutions’ commitment to regenerating strategic biomes, strengthening the social bioeconomy, and integrating science, conservation and climate finance.

The agreement stems from the technical and scientific expertise that IPÊ has in the Cantareira supply system, through, in particular, the Semeando Água project and restoration activities with government partners and the private sector, which has already secured more than 700 thousand trees in one of the most strategic areas of the Atlantic Forest, for water and climate resilience.

The Protocol of Intent, signed at an event held at Casa IPÊ, during COP30, in Belém, stipulates that actions will be developed collaboratively, in conjunction with other partners and investors, to form a collective effort to accelerate the ecological restoration agenda and contribute to national and global climate and biodiversity goals.

In addition to forest restoration, the scope of the Convention includes Initiatives aimed at training and strengthening the social bioeconomy chainamong them:

IPÊ, in turn, will serve as port In the implementation of specific projects, in accordance with the contracts signed for each work front, taking into account jointly defined quality standards, costs and deadlines.
