Members of Lula’s government have raised the alarm regarding MDB parliamentarians after the president nominated the Minister of the Arab Gulf Union, Jorge Messias, for a vacant position in the STF.
Lula’s ministers say they have detected outside moves to persuade Imedipista senators to vote against Messias’ nomination.

The goal is to reject the name of Christ, and thus attempt to provide a name for the SRF that is more satisfactory to the MDB. One of them will be TCU Minister Bruno Dantas.

But for those close to him, the Minister of the Audit Bureau denied his intention to join the statement. “I will not participate in this,” Dantas told interviewers.
Colombre resistance
In addition to the MDB, Messias faces resistance from the President of the Senate, Davi Alclumbri (Uniao-AP), who supported the name of Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG).
However, Lula told Pacheco that he would like the Social Democratic Party senator to be his candidate for the government of Minas Gerais in 2026, which the parliamentarian rejects.
In the face of Alcolombre’s resistance, Lula warned, behind the scenes, that he would not nominate Pacheco for the SS as a backup plan, if the Senate rejected Messias.
