On Monday, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirmed its commitment to the agreement sponsored by the United States, and denounced the ongoing violations of it by Israel, which once again called on the mediators to take action to stop it, a month after its signing.
Hamas indicated that these violations were committed almost since the signing of the agreement, which is reflected in the killing of 271 Palestinians and the injury of 622 others in Israeli army attacks, in addition to dozens of detainees, the demolition of homes, the closure of the Rafah crossing, the use of the veto of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), or the restriction of humanitarian aid.
Hamas denounced that “actual humanitarian aid did not exceed 40 percent of the total trucks that entered during the first month, which represents less than 200 trucks per day,” out of the 600 trucks that were agreed upon, explaining that the same situation occurs with regard to fuel delivery.
The Palestinian movement said in a statement published on its website, “Fuel is necessary to revive life, allowing hospital generators to operate, roads to be opened, transportation to be operated, and infrastructure to be rehabilitated.”
Hamas also denounced Israel’s refusal to allow the entry of heavy machinery necessary for the tasks of removing rubble and recovering bodies. He stressed that despite this, they had committed to handing over the remains of the hostages still in Gaza, as part of the agreement.
The Palestinian group reminded that it handed over the 20 Israeli hostages alive within the first 72 hours of signing the agreement, and has since done the same with the bodies of 24 others, and continues its “intensive efforts” to find the other four remaining bodies.
Hamas said, “It was able to recover 24 bodies out of 28” and “provided the coordinates of the locations of the other bodies in areas under the occupation’s control.” The movement also denounced Israel’s attempts to resume the conflict, according to statements by its authorities.
The organization said, “The occupation’s political, military, and security leaders continue to publicly incite, almost daily, to resume the war and ignore the terms of the agreement, in blatant disregard for the international community and in defiance of world leaders.”
Hamas concludes its speech by calling on the international community to act against Israel’s interest in not respecting the plan and with a list of demands, including strict adherence to the agreement, the delivery of humanitarian aid and fuel without restrictions, the opening of many border crossings, and the entry of materials necessary to operate the power plant in Gaza.
