“Here is the history of viticulture,” Sofia Biscarmona sums up as she shows us an orchard she is proud of. The orchard covers an area of ​​32 hectares Lagarde Winery, in Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Sofía grew up in Buenos Aires, but from Mendoza by adoption. She says her mother is from Rosario, her father is from Mendoza, and that she spent most of her summer and winter vacations in the province. “I feel like I’m from Mendoza,” he asserts. He settled in these parts for 25 years“In agriculture and winemaking, one is rooted in the land. The vineyard cannot be moved, one has to move to the place where the farm is,” reflects Sophia, who defines herself as a lover of nature and the change of seasons.

Committed, kind and remarkably low-profile, she adds that these industries are strategic for many countries, such as Argentina. “They push us to feel love for the earth and improving the place we live in. I love working on that and creating and I feel proud of what we are doing with Lagarde. I am happy to improve what I received so that future generations can enjoy it. “This will be my legacy,” says Sophia, a mother of young children. “They will do what they want, but always with responsibility and love.”

Sofia has a degree in International Relations and Philosophy and an MBA, and has dedicated herself to communications for many years. He now celebrates that he has been able to develop his creative side in the wine industry, which is a dynamic industry that needs creative people. “We have a story to tell. The people of Mendoza who are dedicated to wine understood that we had to come together to define the terroir and compete with the world,” he comments and highlights. The role of WofA, Wines of Argentina, has brought them together for 30 years.
