
The Health Department of the Federal District (SES-DF) confirmed on Tuesday (11/11) that it is investigating a case of alleged methanol poisoning in the capital. This is the third suspicion of contamination with the substance registered in the DF – the other two have been disposed of.
The patient, who has not yet been identified, was admitted to a Brasilia hospital. He was hospitalized after drinking a distilled beverage purchased from a beverage distributor. The trust is looking for someone else who may have ingested the same distillate.
“The case is being monitored through epidemiological surveillance at the hospital with the analysis of the confirmatory test kit continuing. An active search is underway for another person allegedly exposed to the same product,” the SES-DF informed in a memo (read in full at the end of the text).
The volume also reported that DF Health Surveillance went to the distributor from whom the bottle of liquor was purchased. The Secretariat concluded that “there was only one bottle on site belonging to the same batch. The product was collected and sent for analysis at the Criminal Police Institute of the Civil Police.”

After the call, health control conducted an inspection of the beverage distributor where the bottle of spirits was purchased. The location of the investigation was determined, and there was only one bottle at the site belonging to the same batch. The product was collected and sent for analysis at the Civil Police Criminal Institute.
