How beer flight strengthens Brazil’s economy

Many people know that beer is synonymous with celebration and connection. What has been little discussed is its role as one of the most complete symbols of Brazil’s economic power: a sophisticated industry, with deep roots in the countryside, that generates a virtuous cycle of development.

When we look at the journey from coffee bean to drink, we don’t just see a beverage, we see an ecosystem that reflects the potential of our country.

The numbers speak for themselves Brazil is not only a major consumer, it is the third largest beer producer in the world. This sector alone represents 2% of the national GDP, an impressive figure that translates into more than 2 million jobs and R$27 billion in salaries paid annually in a chain that goes far beyond breweries. This economic power is inseparable from its agricultural origin.

It is in the field that the strength of this sector is born, which for thousands of farmers in the southern region of Brazil has established itself as an income supplement using barley as a winter crop, an alternative to the rotation that optimizes and optimizes land use throughout the year.

This relationship between the stadium and the cup is not new. As Embrapa points out, it is the brewing industry itself that has, since the 1970s, encouraged the expansion of agriculture in the country, in an alliance that has proven vital to regional agricultural development.

As an industry, we recognize that agriculture is an essential part of our business. Our role is to act as a catalyst, investing not only in production capacity, but in the development of the entire chain.

This commitment is reflected in the strong investments in the country – more than R$10 billion in the last three years, on several fronts – but it is embodied in a special way in the partnership we have with the producer.

This translates, for example, into development programs that provide technical knowledge, encourage better production practices and increasingly encourage sustainable agriculture, with the goals of 100% connecting and qualifying partners.

The final quality of premium beer, recognized by thousands of international awards, is a reflection of a strong and conscious value chain, the result of a sector that believes in collaboration and invests in every link in this chain.

That’s why toasting with Brazilian beer carries so much more meaning: it’s a celebration of an innovative industry, a resilient agribusiness and an ecosystem that proves it’s possible to unite tradition and development. Being part of this history is undoubtedly a source of great pride.
