from Thursday, December 4th to Saturday, December 6th at the España Cultural Center of Cordoba (Entre Rios 40), Festival “Great clarification!” It will deploy an ambitious agenda of free activities, from video conferences with international figures to workshops and portfolio reviews that seek to give local artists a quantum leap.
The project, which in its first edition brought together about 450 people, is united as a meeting point where Cordoba drawing crosses borders and looks in the mirror of other major cultural industries, such as animation, video games and the publishing sector..
From decadence to meeting space
Ignacio Lilinia member of the Ilustrazo! team, explains to Perfil Córdoba the genesis of the project, which arose within the framework of the program Futura 4 from CCEBA: “The idea arose from the diagnosis of the area in which a large number of proposals from illustrators were observed (graphic fairs, comics fairs, design fairs, places to sell illustrations, workshops). Each of them worked alone and formed a separate circle. That is why we proposed a meeting space for illustrators working in different industries (animation, publishing, communication, entrepreneurship and video games).”
The project he created Ok Baratzwas designed specifically to reverse this isolation, relying at this point on Funding from the Williams Foundation and support from CCE Cordoba.
Professionalization through international transit
The motto of the second edition is clear: professionalism. Lilini stresses that the main goal of this year’s proposal is to include a grid designed to add tangible tools to artists’ work.
Two pioneers who broke the glass ceiling in the Comedy and Real Theater
“The focus is professionalism, which is why we have added a proposal for workshops targeting those who already draw with the aim of adding tools to their work. In the same vein, this year’s student competition was a hands-on exercise: making a festival poster.
Linking to international references is an essential pillar, thanks to the support of… French Institute in Argentina through the Enlace Orillas Nuevas Fund ProgramThe festival has a strong connection with abroad, which was exemplified in November Visit French editor Thomas Dassans from iLatina Éditions.
“The activity with Thomas was very rich in terms of content and professionalism. He explained to us how he works with painters and what the French market is looking for in terms of content and quality,” says Lilini.
The highlight of the international agenda comes on Thursday 4 December, with a day of online video conferences. Attendees will have access to the experience of three important talents: the Argentine cartoonist based in France, Lucas Varela; Argentine painter and art director Elda Broglio From Germany, and the avant-garde Spanish comedian, Marta Carto.
The agenda is divided into three main themes, all of which focus on communication and training: talks and dissertations; Portfolio review workshops and an exhibition of posters and special prints.
In addition, it will be presented “Dual Tone – Italy Illustrated by Alla Cordoba”a special publication produced in association with Italian Institute of Culture in Cordoba and Editorial Derivatives. The book, which has 1,000 copies for free distribution, brings together the works of 20 Córdoba painters who reflect on the cultural link between Córdoba and Italy.
