Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta (28 years old) was once again subjected to criticism after he was sent off in the match that West Ham lost to Liverpool 2-0, in a match in which he returned to the starting lineup after serving a suspension due to the accumulation of cards. When he was criticized, he directly criticized the FA for the lack of psychological support, which would affect his performance on the field.

Throughout the match, Paqueta was not warned until the final minutes. But in the 38th minute of the second half, he protested to referee Darren England after Niklas Volkrug fouled Dominik Szoboszlai. Even with requests for calm from his teammates, the midfielder continued to complain and received two consecutive yellow cards, and was sent off. The move quickly had repercussions on social media.

Fans criticized the player’s attitude and the way he was once again involved in a cycle of indiscipline. Some users have once again raised suspicions of foul play, although Paqueta was recently cleared by the English Association (FA) of charges relating to the 2022/23 season, when betting patterns attracted attention in matches in which he was given cards. Although he was acquitted of the tampering charge, the FA warned the athlete not to “fully cooperate” with the investigation.

In the face of the new wave of criticism, Paqueta spoke in an angry and scathing tone. The player said in a post on social media:

Paqueta responded: “It is ridiculous that my life and career have been affected for two years without any psychological support from the federation. Perhaps this ridiculous behavior is just a reflection of everything I have had to endure, and it seems that I will continue to endure! I am sorry if I am not perfect.”
