40 days before Christmas, a colorful and illuminated tree, 55 meters high, was inaugurated on Saturday night (15), in the park of Villa Lobos, in Alto de Pinheiros, west of São Paulo.
According to the City Hall, in total, the large Christmas tree contains 288 thousand points of light. This tourist attraction is expected to receive 1.6 million visitors by the beginning of 2026.
The building, sponsored by Coca-Cola, is 21 meters in diameter and has a star 4.8 meters tall. The tree also contains 162 decorative elements and an immersive carousel measuring 26 meters tall, and is one of the largest trees in the world, according to organizers.
From Sunday (16th), the carousel, which revolves around the tree, begins its regular operation, with sessions on weekends. Admission is free, but you must make an appointment online.
The Christmas tree features ornaments made from recycled PET bottles, a scenography of gift boxes made from more than 50,000 lids and totems made from 5,000 lids each.
“This year, Christmas in São Paulo will be historic, with lots of lights and experiences,” says Sao Paulo Municipal Tourism Secretary Rui Alves.
Orbea, the concessionaire responsible for managing Ibirapuera Park, in the southern region, has not yet announced the opening date of its Christmas tree, considered the most traditional in the municipality, nor its attractions this year.
The park said on its social networks on Saturday that this will happen soon.
