
Also known as cream or peanut butter, this paste is made from dried and ground roasted foods. Thus, there are variations of this product, which over time have become popular among Brazilian consumers, but have also raised questions for many. After all, is whole peanut butter healthier than regular peanut butter?
What is whole peanut butter?
Nutritionist Carlos Basualdo, of Clínica MedSculp, explains that it depends on the patient’s eating plan.
“The whole grain paste is pure peanuts. Therefore, it contains almost no carbohydrates and can be included in plans restricted to these nutrients. Since it is only peanuts, it does not contain a sweet taste or any other added nutrients. Pastes with added nutrients may contain sugar, platinum, honey, whey or other types of foods. They will adjust according to the plan’s suggestion.”
In this way, it is clear that both models rely on peanuts as their basis. Legumes with high nutritional value, containing an impressive percentage of vitamins and a large amount of vegetable proteins – about 25 to 30% of their composition.
“What differs from one whole grain brand to another is the level of creaminess and the presence or absence of peanuts,” Basualdo adds. “Other peanut butters contain additional ingredients, which is recommended for those looking for a little more flavor or who don’t like the 100% whole grain options.”
