Madrid, November 11 (European Press) –
The Israeli army announced on Tuesday the destruction of several buildings that were supposedly used by the Shiite Hezbollah in a new incursion into the town of Houla, located in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire agreed upon at the end of November 2024 after nearly thirteen months of fighting.
He added that “the forces of the 769th Brigade destroyed during the night a number of buildings used as terrorist infrastructure in the town of Houla,” before noting that the army had previously launched a similar operation in the area a month ago “to neutralize old weapons and explosives stored in these buildings.”
He stressed that “the presence of these infrastructures represents a violation of the agreement between Israel and Lebanon,” referring to the aforementioned ceasefire, before confirming that “the Israeli army will continue to work to eliminate any threat to the lands of the State of Israel.”
Israel launched dozens of bombings against Lebanon despite a ceasefire in November 2024, arguing that it was acting against Hezbollah’s activities and thus ensuring that it did not violate the agreement, although Beirut and the group criticized these actions, which were also condemned by the United Nations.
The ceasefire agreement, reached after months of fighting following the October 7, 2023 attacks, stipulated that both Israel and Hezbollah must withdraw their forces from southern Lebanon. However, the Israeli army maintains five sites in the territory of its neighboring country, something that was also criticized by the Lebanese authorities and the Shiite group, which demands an end to this deployment.
