The relationship began in 2019, when the two were federal MPs and worked together to create a committee. Their daily partnership has brought the couple closer, the MP said in several interviews.

Since then, the couple has been inseparable. In fact, João actively participated in Tabata’s electoral campaign in the race for mayor of São Paulo in 2024. She ended up in fourth place in the fray, with 9.91% of the valid votes.

João Campos was re-elected Mayor of Recife (PE) with 78% of valid votes. He is listed as a candidate for governor of Pernambuco for the 2026 elections.
