Changes in the engine room Junts per Catalunya. Carles Puigdemont and the party leadership decided to appoint MP Salvador Vergés as the new spokesman for the Parliament of Catalonia. The appointment includes the replacement of Albert Batet as senior figure of formation in the Catalan Chamber, who begins to occupy the newly created position: Vice-President. Representative Monica Sales, who served as spokesperson, will be responsible for chairing the parliamentary group.
Junts announced its restructuring on Monday, and the gesture includes rebuilding the organizational structure of the leadership and doubling the power of Vergés, an MP from Girona who, like Puigdemont, has roots in the rural environment and has a good relationship with mayors and municipal officials in the party.
For his part, Juntes makes this gesture at an important moment given the possibilities of Carles Puigdemont’s return to Catalonia. “Given the new challenges of the political context and the report of the European Union Prosecutor approving the amnesty law,” Guntz justified in a statement, referring to the latest report of European Justice that does not object to judicial amnesty for those involved in the judicial files derived from the process. Gontz highlights an agreement that makes Puigdemont’s return “possible.”
The changes, as reported by Junts, were approved unanimously after a meeting of its executive management on Monday in Waterloo (Belgium). Pattett will continue in his position as deputy, retaining liaison duties between Junts and institutions, as well as with business representatives.
