Vice President of the National Workers’ Party and Mayor of Marika (RJ), Washington Kawawa, has attributed the spread of a rumor about rapper Oroam’s supposed affiliation to the right-wing party.
In connection with the article, the leader denied that the Rio de Janeiro Workers’ Party intends to launch Oroam’s candidacy in the 2026 elections and vetoed this possibility. According to Kwakwa, the rapper is “connected to the power of drug trafficking.”

“It was fake news put out by the right with the aim of trying to link the Labor Party to defending criminals. He is a rapper, but he is linked to the drug trafficking power. We will not allow his membership or nomination to the Labor Party,” Washington Kawawa told the column.
Oroam is the son of Márcio dos Santos Nepomuceno, Vice President Marcinho, leader of the Comando Vermelho (CV), who has been imprisoned since 1996 and convicted of murder and drug trafficking. The artist is being investigated by the police on charges of association with drug trafficking, drug trafficking, resistance, contempt, damage, threats and bodily harm.

On Tuesday (11/25), the party’s municipal director in Rio de Janeiro denied a rumor that a party member had spoken with Oroam about a supposed candidacy for the position of state representative in 2026.
“The PT municipal directory of Rio de Janeiro publicly states that the narrative that there was a meeting with family members, advisors or the rapper Oroam to discuss the rapper’s possible nomination for state representative is incorrect. The party states that ‘news’ is not information but a false narrative. The PT strengthens its commitment to real information and strongly combats fake news,” the memo said.
