Peron yes, Presti no
These days there are many Peronist leaders who are raising their voices against the appointment of a military man (Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti) as head of the Ministry of Defense; The justifications range from danger to democratic coexistence, a potential insult to human rights organizations, mistreatment of the institutions of the Republic, the alleged illegality of the appointment, and other Manichean views of the administration of President Javier Miley. What’s more: some suggest that Presti should devote himself “for you“, to the army, which he is ready for. And all these Peronists seem to have forgotten that we Argentines have three times had a constitutional president who was also a military man: Lieutenant Colonel Juan Domingo Perón. And none of them turn red when they sing with ecstasy and military passion the “Peronist March” that glorifies the political personality of another military man.

Think boldly
In 1956, the United States began an ambitious plan called the Dwight D. System. Eisenhower’s National Interstate and Defense Highways system sought to improve mobility, promote commerce, and enable a strategic defense network through approximately 78,000 kilometers of highways of at least two lanes in each direction, without grade crossings, and at high, safe speeds. On 13 and 26 November, journalist Diego Cabot addressed in these pages the problem of tenders launched by the government to restore the disastrous state of Argentine roads, in particular about 1,800 kilometers of the so-called southern section and other limited-scale works. I agree with the author that the illusions did not live up to the expectation of a federal highway network. Certainly, reshaping the course is so dangerous that it was decided to mitigate the situation with something limited in time and resources, although in my opinion it misses the opportunities that crises provide. If we aspire to become a great and powerful country again, we must take risks, have confidence in ourselves and our abilities, and perhaps dream more boldly.

Background and shape
Background and form, an eternal discussion both in the field of art and in everyday life. Are both important? For me, yes. Receiving a guest in a bathrobe or sandals is not the same as receiving a guest in decent clothes. Which is why, when I saw this week’s Cabinet meeting with its lavish hugs, excessive laughter and prancing dances, I felt a mixture of shame and exasperation and wondered what they were celebrating. Will they take into account the millions of retirees who receive the minimum? To the middle class that is manipulating the extension of its salaries? We all know the end result: reduced fiscal deficits, future reforms, and many more promises. But do they realize that this constant spectacle of celebration attacks common sense? I’m just asking for a little respect, nothing more.

malnutrition
In the interview with social entrepreneur Felix Brooks Church published on November 9, I was struck by the raw data: “Every day 8,000 children die and 2,000 million people suffer from preventable diseases because their diet lacks essential vitamins and minerals” (malnutrition). In 2006, Brooks Church traveled to Cambodia as a volunteer and then to Nepal. He created a machine (Doser) to add nutrients (vitamin A, folic acid, vitamin B12, iron and zinc) to food, in rural mills (Sanko Project), in order to combat child malnutrition in Africa (500 million people). Today they supply 32 million people, and aim to reach 100 million in 2030. Then they want to cover “global malnutrition,” which they estimate at 2,000 million. I remembered the great work done by Father Pedro Opeka in Madagascar, who took people out of garbage dumps, and turned them into cities, for more than 35 years in the Akamasoa project (without any kind of “care”). But the most important thing is that it restored their “dignity as a people.” Although his project was presented in Argentina (Father Obica was nominated for the Nobel Prize) during several governments, unfortunately it was not copied. I recently discovered that it is being applied in Zarate. There is also the Conín Foundation that takes care of malnourished children and many other unsung heroes who help others. I wonder why, during all these years, the experiments of Akamasoa and Sanko have not been replicated further in Argentina. The global future of humanity depends on these children (2 billion children), and if they are not fed in the first years of their lives, they generate two inevitable and catastrophic outcomes: they either die of malnutrition or live with “irreversible” physical and mental consequences in their development. These days we hear talk about “millions” on several fronts. Are the millions of dollars in foreign and corporate debt, or the millions of votes, or the millions of children who are dying today and will continue to die from malnutrition due to “abandonment and inaction” more important?

Public peace
Regarding the post on the traffic accumulation and accidents that currently characterize General Paz, I once again repeat the ban on the circulation of trucks – on its scheme and other highways – from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Highest transferable cost – must be evaluated and weighted appropriately. Regarding motorcycles and scooters On all highways, users must allow driving in the far right lane only.with effective speed limits and inevitable license plate recognition (in a jacket or helmet that must be worn by the driver and passenger).
Furthermore, to enable these last roads to be crossed to the left, if possible You must be subject to the same guidelines applied to other vehicle drivers.
