Letters to the editor: Children and adults

Pediatric service is available in health centers, but the number of elderly and elderly people far exceeds the number of children and the needs of the geriatric doctor are not considered in these centers, so it is reasonable for it to be carried out by Administration and society that lack the information provided by this health specialty.

Another point to consider is the need for gerontological services in nursing homes, especially in those admitted from agricultural services, whose poor training and lack of psychosocial skills hinder their ability to socialize with their peers, preventing them from living in the moment.

Autumn in Retiro

Since leaving my home state, California, I have found three personally indisputable pairings in Madrid: classical music and an elegant suit, coffee with churro, and the pairing that helps me start these days after breakfast. Autumn and retirement. There are very few things more compatible than this garden and this season we are in right now. The baroque and neoclassical style of the Retiro is imbued with the wave of autumn leaves, yellow and red, some of which remain green, giving us this signal that autumn has come to take us away and save us from the summer that has remained in history due to its extreme heat and dryness.

Since my arrival in this city last year, one of my few wishes is that this park never loses its essence as the symbolic pillar of Western culture in this great Spanish capital. Each section (or area) of this park is photographed daily by tourists and locals; But it also deserves to be told. Every time I walk around the Retiro in the morning – especially in the fall, when one is wearing one’s favorite coat – I remember a phrase from my favorite Madrid authors, a great literary reference for me. Francisco Umbral once said that “Madrid is a genre, or more.” If so, this park should always be an introduction to Madrid as a city, every time told in a narrative way.

I’m not exactly sure what day, month, or year Umbral wrote this during his lifetime, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was during this time of year, when he was strolling around the Retiro in a smart coat and trusty scarf while the autumn leaves were falling on him.

A Retiro is a Retiro no matter the season, but autumn in particular gives it a spark of magic that no other season can give. .

This balance between the long coat, the baroque style and the romance that we see in this park (whether between couples or the self-love that one gives in every alone walk) is something that can never escape us.
