In November, the Supreme Court issued several relevant decisions. On the one hand, two women who insulted a man in a restaurant because he kissed another, telling him “you must be gay, fat and Spanish,” were jailed. The judges overturned the initial fine for … It was considered a hate crime punishable by imprisonment (ruling issued on November 4, Cassation Appeal 2018/2023).
In the same month, the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a major media group, upholding an investigative program that allegedly defamed a medical professional (Judgment of 5 November, Appeal No. 7459/2022). Moreover, the controversial Administrative Chamber declared invalid a decree issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Sánchez government to overlook the economic repercussions that could have on the Spanish pork sector (ruling of 3 November, Appeal No. 586/2023), a publication that appeared in the Bank of England on Friday 21 November.
In sum, the appeals of a farm owner, a medical professional affected by a television programme, and a man seriously humiliated in Navarra were resolved by the Supreme Court. No one talked about “judicial coups” or other exaggerations; All cases were treated normally. Even the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, convicted of deleting reports related to the pork sector, did not question the Supreme Court. The Minister knows that Good Governance Law No. 13/2019 requires respect for the principle of neutrality and correct and accurate treatment of all (Article 26). The minimum expected of a minister in a democracy.

Anti-fascism
The term “anti-fascism” is popular among some social and political groups. In principle, there is nothing objectionable to condemning fascism, as the European Parliament resolution of 19 September 2019 condemned both fascism and communism, in these words: “The Nazi and communist regimes committed mass murder, genocide and deportations, and were responsible for the loss of human life and freedom in the twentieth century, on a scale hitherto unprecedented in human history.”
Thus, in the opposite sense, it must be recognized that there is no place for fascist or communist parties in the European Parliament, because they would be banned. Naturally, ultras are accepted, whether from the left, the right or the nationalists. It is surprising, then, that some Spanish politicians declare themselves communists without shame. Either he is lying or he is violating the resolution. If you follow the slogan, or the fashion, and gratuitously hurl the word “fascist” at someone, in addition to the insult, it shows ignorance, or worse: fanaticism, intransigence, partisanship, dogmatism, or radicalism, all of which are characteristics of true fascism.
