Syrian authorities reported on Friday that more than a dozen civilians, including several children, were killed in an Israeli army incursion into the town of Beit Yin, on the outskirts of Damascus, where several clashes took place after Israeli forces crossed the border to conduct an operation against alleged members of the Al-Yama Islamist group.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned “in the strongest terms” this “criminal attack” carried out by Israeli forces, and accused them of a “blatant attack on the population and their property.” He added, “This led to clashes between the people and the occupation patrol, which was forced to withdraw from Syrian territory.”
