
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) on Monday morning (17/11) spoke with the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, by phone. The dialogue is taking place on the eve of the Labor Party member’s trip to Johannesburg to participate in the G20 leaders’ summit on November 22-23. The bloc is currently chaired by the southern African country.
According to Palacio do Planalto, the conversation lasted about 40 minutes, and the two talked about South Africa’s projects ahead of the G20 summit, especially the expert group on inequality, headed by Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz in economics.

The leaders also planned to hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit with the aim of deepening trade relations between the two countries. Lula also congratulated Ramaphosa, who celebrates his 73rd birthday on Monday.
The Brazilian president leaves for the African continent at the end of the week. In addition to his participation in the leaders’ meeting in Johannesburg, he will visit Mozambique to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
