Mahindra Racing announced on Wednesday (26) that its contract as a manufacturer in Formula E has been renewed for a further four years. The Indian team, the leader in this category, was the first manufacturer to join the championship in 2013, and with the new agreement, it confirms its participation in the GEN4 era, ensuring its presence in the category until at least 2030.

Throughout its history, Mahindra has achieved 5 victories and 29 podium finishes in Formula E. In the 2024/25 season, the team witnessed its best final stages, with five podium finishes and direct disputes in the championship. The performance secured fourth place in the Teams’ Championship, in addition to eighth and ninth places in the Drivers’ Championship, with Nick de Vries and Eduardo Mortara. The manufacturer also introduced the M12Electro, a new car designed to keep the team among the best teams next season.

In an official announcement, Mahindra Racing Chairman, Mr. R. Philosamy:

“Mahindra Racing has long been a symbol of our commitment to the ‘race to street’ journey, where cutting-edge innovation on the track directly shapes the clean, smart and high-performance mobility solutions we deliver to our customers. Formula E is a powerful platform to innovate new technologies, allowing us to experiment, learn and improve the efficiency of electric drive systems, sustainable materials and software intelligence.”

As we enter the GEN4 era, our ambition increases. Continuing this journey until 2030 is a testament to our belief in sport, electrification and India’s role as a global leader in sustainable mobility. We are proud to champion this future, and GEN4 represents an exciting new chapter for Mahindra Racing and the Mahindra Group.

With the new commitment, the team becomes the sixth in the category to confirm its participation in the GEN4 era, scheduled for 2026/2027, which will bring developments such as a regeneration of up to 700 kilowatts and a maximum power of 600 kilowatts, equivalent to more than 815 hp, becoming the fastest and most innovative Formula E electric car ever.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to the racetracks on December 7 for the São Paulo E-Prix, which opens the 12th season of the category.
