The organized Mancha Alverde fans, through its president Andre Guerra Ribeiro, signed a TAC (behavior modification term) agreement with the MP-SP (São Paulo Public Ministry) at the beginning of this month in which it takes responsibility for the attack on Cruzeiro fans last year.
The ambush carried out by Palmeiras fans against Cruzeiro fans on the Fernão Dias highway, in the Mairipora region, in October 2024, led to the death of one person and the injury of 20 others. The attack included 120 people, according to the Federal Highway Police.
The case, which occurred towards Belo Horizonte, was in response to a confrontation between them, in September 2022, on the same highway, but on the territory of the state of Minas Gerais.
According to TAC, Mancha admitted that “the facts were planned, organized and executed by members of the association.”
In attack, Cruzeiro fans were returning from a match against Atletico Paranaense, in Curitiba. Palmeiras played against Fortaleza in the capital, Sao Paulo.
Also under the agreement, the fans committed to compensate the victims of the attack for material and moral damages in the amount of 2 million Brazilian reals. Half of the total amount will go to the family of deceased Cruzeiro fan, Jose Victor Miranda.
The company that owns the buses that were attacked will receive R$200,000 to repair the damage caused, with another R$250,000 allocated to the Public Security Fund of the Municipality of Mairipora. The fund’s balance will be distributed to victims who suffered physical injuries.
Mancha also pledged to no longer be involved in “violent episodes of a similar nature, especially in situations planned and organized or initiated by its members or leaders.”
“To this end, it also undertakes to restrict and punish any member/accomplice involved in this type of illegal activity involving fans of football teams, and to institute the immediate preventive suspension of any member accused by the Civil Police or convicted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office as a perpetrator or who participates in an ambush, organized riot or more serious crime,” says the TAC.
According to the terms agreed, the MP will also approve the return of fans to the stadiums – Mancha was banned from watching matches by the Sao Paulo Football Federation days after the attack on Cruzeiro fans, on the recommendation of the same public ministry.
