Former basketball player Mark Ostarcevic has settled permanently in Croatia and has broken his silence about his ex-wife Norma Duvall. In an interview with “SEMANA”, the former athlete reviewed his health, his daily life away from Spain and the long emotional exhaustion he experienced. … It’s been a long time since they broke up.
After decades of moving between Benidorm and his native country, Ostarcevic confirms that this new phase is calm and necessary. He explains that he is in good health, has recovered from prostate cancer and heart surgery, and that in Croatia he has two brothers and some friends from his generation. He admits that the rest left over time.
Personally, the story changes completely. The former athlete maintains daily contact with only one of his children besides Norma Duvall, Wilco, who sends him pictures of his grandchildren. As for Mark and Christian, the distance is absolute. “His mother, at that time, didn’t do what she had to do and turned them against me,” he says, suggesting that the emotional breakup left open wounds that never healed. “I’m used to it,” he admits when he talks about the lack of a relationship with them and his lack of faith in a future rapprochement.
At this point comes the phrase that set off all the alarms. Ostarcevich points directly to Norma Duvall, with whom he has had a relationship spanning nearly two decades: “She has a very complex personality. Several colleagues in the press told me that they should erect a monument to me on Gran Via in Madrid because I had put up with Norma for so many years. “He has a lot of genius and some balls.” A statement that sets the tone for the interview as the Croatian does not soften his stance.
His story with Norma began in 1983 with an unexpected crush and a relationship built for years between secret dates, confessions and a family fusion that seemed constant. They married in 1992, carefully choosing the date they met, and soon after their youngest son arrived. The divorce came in 2003, after a complicated breakup that they both told from very different points of view.
Norma Duvall said on several occasions that the relationship “burned out” and that she was the one who decided to cut off all contact. In 2020, during an interview with Bertine Osbourne, she confirmed that she did not even know where her ex-husband lived and that her children “had a very bad time” because of “a lot of lies.” The opposite version of Ostarcevic, who insists that he was the one who bore the consequences of that move away.
From Croatia, Mark Ostarcevic today lives a simple routine, marked by calm and that slow life that comes after a long personal journey. But his harsh and direct words open a chapter he thought was over, putting him once again at the center of family and media controversy.
