An island in Japan records more than 1,000 earthquakes in less than 15 days
In a video, with more than 3 million views, a Chinese content creator shows off her family home and the surrounding areas of the small island. The scenery is impressive, and despite the isolation, it is not surprising that the family chose to settle there. Watch the video at the link.
Surrounded by farms, waterfalls and fruit trees, the family takes pride in living in a different environment. Their two-storey house was built little by little starting in 2000, moving materials by steel cables and steep paths. The property has electricity, internet and spring water.
Before the site was “modernised”, it was accessible via improvised cable cars or climbing cliffs. Now, it is possible to use tricycles to cross the iron bridge to the island.
The family’s custom is to grow squash, tomatoes, and peppers, and use pure spring water for drinking.
It may seem dangerous, but the Yang couple ensures that the place is safe. The water level never threatened the island, not even during floods or earthquakes. For them, safety, connection with nature and independence are priorities. It’s a choice, not a lack of choice.
