“I’ve always had my mother’s support,” Mel Maya highlighted. “She accompanied me in series and in auditions and always supported me. She supported me because I really wanted (to be an actress). I received a lot of rejection and it was great to have this support from my parents,” she praised in an interview with Poddelas on November 18.

However, the divorce between Deborah and Mel Maya’s father, Luciano Souza, would have affected the relationship between the family. After the separation in 2024, the businesswoman published posts on social media denouncing the lack of respect for her daughters.

“Sad about a lot of silly things, but I’ll tell you. All the love I’ve been given has turned into ingratitude, and that’s for people you’d never suspect. I feel like trash in front of my daughters, who chose the unknown over their mother’s love,” he posted in October of that year.

But a year later, Deborah is back to sharing posts praising her daughters. “Everything for me! Without them I have no life, no joy and health,” he recently wrote. In addition to Mel Maya, she was also the mother of dental student Jasmine Maya.

The body of the actress’s mother was found dead in the bathroom of the businesswoman’s home in Rio de Janeiro by her domestic worker on Friday (28/11). Deborah lived alone and, according to information from the LeoDias portal, had a period of depression and was taking controlled medications.

Mel Maya’s mother will be buried and cremated on Saturday (29/11) at Penitência Crematorium, in Cajo, Rio de Janeiro. The service will be held at 12:15 p.m., and the funeral will be at 3:15 p.m.
