Civil Police are investigating the deaths of two men, aged 29 and 38, and the hospitalization of two other people due to drinking alcohol at a bar in Cajamar, in Greater São Paulo, on Saturday (8). The deaths occurred on Sunday.
To date there is no evidence to suggest methanol poisoning. The investigation is working on the hypothesis of poisoning.
One of the men remains in hospital in serious condition, according to the Cajamar City Council.
Three bars were closed on Vila Nova and Nascentes streets in the Gordanizia neighborhood. The victims were drinking in these establishments, according to the investigation. Two other places were closed as a precaution, because they were in a close radius.
The products were also confiscated for analysis and sent to the Forensic Institute.
The investigation requested tests from the Legal Medical Institute. The incident has been registered as a suspicious death at Kajamar police station.
