the Minister Alexandre de MoraesFrom the Federal Supreme Court (STF), permission Series of Visits For the former president Jair Bolsonaroin House arrest Since August in Brasilia. Thirteen people were approved, including the governors of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas, and Rio, Claudio Castro, and Rep. Guilherme Dirit (PP-SP).
The visits of Tarcisio and Castro were requested by the former president’s defence, which highlighted in the document sent to the STF that they wanted their visits to take place “as soon as possible, due to the need for direct dialogue” with the governors. Moraes set Castro’s departure date as November 26. Tarcísio’s date was December 10. The governor of Sao Paulo had previously visited the former president on other occasions. He is a close ally of Bolsonaro and is expected to run for president in 2026. The former president has not yet specified who he will support, and Tarcisio says publicly that he will seek re-election to the state government.
Castro and Derret’s visit comes amid the fallout from the massive security operation in Rio, which left 121 people dead, and which has reignited debate over draft laws aimed at combating criminal organizations. The PP MP is a licensed secretary of public security in São Paulo and current rapporteur of the Antifaction PL, whose vote has been postponed until next week after receiving criticism from both the federal government and the opposition.
Moraes scheduled Dayrit’s visit for December 1. The governor of Goiás state, Ronaldo Caedo, was also allowed to meet the former president. Caido, who plans to run for president in 2026, also advocated in Congress for the approval of projects that advocate toughening criminal justice and equating criminal factions with terrorism.
In the order, Moraes confirmed that the visits take place between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. A house arrest order was issued against Bolsonaro as part of the investigation into the actions of his son, Rep. Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), due to coercion. The former president was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison for the attempted coup, but the procedure has not yet become final and the punishment has not yet been determined.
