Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities and Secretary General of the PSPV, Diana Morant, made a call to build “the social democratic alternative neighborhood by neighborhood and with the Valencian community,” at the same time as emphasizing that the PSPV “did it in 2015” and saying: “Now we will fix it again.”
This is how Morant spoke on Saturday at the National Committee held by the Valencian Socialists in the city of Alicante, during which he announced that next spring the PSPV-PSOE will hold a political congress “in which the Valencian and Valencian project will be promoted by the Valencian community.”
Morant also warned that the Socialist Party “will do it again” as happened in 2015, when Chimo Puig became head of the Valencian state government, referring to the “disastrous management” carried out by the PP of Valencian institutions. In this sense, the leader of the Valencian Socialists pointed out that “the fate of the Valencian Community will not be decided by two parties committed to one office, nor by those who clash and confront each other; the future will be decided by the people of Valencia.” He stressed: “We socialists will be at the forefront of the movement that will bring about change because we are the alternative.”
Moreover, he highlighted that the PSPV “will create a general government like the Valencian people: supportive, inclusive, pluralistic, cultured and educated, but also feminist and defender of democratic and Valencian memory.” He stressed at this stage that “with the right there is corruption, privatization of public services, and the deterioration of democratic values.”
Along these lines, Morant called for intervention in the housing market in the Valencian Community “so that it ceases to be a speculative asset and becomes a right” and stressed that “access to housing cannot continue to be a problem for Valencians.” “The biggest problem faced by Valencians requires firm and decisive action, just as we did with energy prices, and we must do it now with the housing market,” he noted.
Finally, Morant emphasized that “while the deniers promise quick and almost magical methods, the socialists say ‘no.’” He added: “We will not accept that they turn Valencian society into a laboratory for destructive experiments because this land does not need fear, it needs a future, it does not need experiments, it needs guarantees.”
However, he emphasized that “this can only be fixed through the Valencian social democracy project that stands for coexistence, equality, progress and dignity.”
He also referred to Pérez Jurca, when the Official State Gazette published this Saturday his appointment as “President” of the Valenciana State Government, as “more like Mazzone”, who resigned from the position of President of the Council last Monday, 3 November. He stated that Alicante’s representation is better than them as well. Furthermore, he also stressed that Pérez Jurca “does not represent an improved version” of Mazzone, because, in his opinion, “he is more of the same.” He said: “He is the man who drafted the agreements with the extreme right to rule the state, and he is the one who continues to forge them.”
