Lexus has chosen Madrid to present the eighth generation of the ES, a sedan that not only makes its debut on the Spanish market, but also marks the beginning of a new design language and a more ambitious multi-technology strategy for the premium Japanese company. The model will open for pre-sale in December at a price of 56,900 euros and the first units will reach customers from April 2026.

During the premiere, which took place in the Circlassica space – a nod to the craftsmanship and attention to detail with which Lexus wants to define itself – the Director of Lexus Spain, Mar Belten, emphasized the importance of this launch: “It is the eighth generation of the ES and the first of many models that will arrive with this new aesthetic language. It inaugurates a completely new design line within the brand.”

Belten also highlighted that the new ES includes five major technological developments “in the interior, safety and comfort,” and debuts the sixth generation of Lexus’ hybrid systems. The board of directors insisted on what it considers the brand’s main competitive advantage: “We anticipate customers’ needs even before they themselves are aware of them.” A philosophy that fits with the decision to offer the ES in hybrid and 100% electric versions without price differences between technologies.

A sedan that anticipates the electric future of the brand

Lexus Spain Production Director Sergio Fernandez describes the new ES as “a completely different sedan from its predecessor”, inspired by the futuristic vision that the brand showed with the 2023 LF-ZC concept. This prototype marked the way towards a sleek and simple electric car now embodied in the new language “Clean Tech x Elegance”, where technology is discreetly integrated to enhance sophistication.

The interface offers a cleaner, fairer design, while maintaining distinctive elements such as the double arrowhead and the “spindle body” twist. The headlights adopt a “Katana blade” lighting signature that enhances the sharp appearance of the whole, while they are located on the side door handles and the new and distinctive “Lexus Signature Line” appears for the first time. At the rear, a continuous L-shaped light bar highlights the car’s width and dynamic character.

The color range includes seven colours, including a new Aegean Blue – exclusive to the ES – and a striking Copper. The entire offer includes a “Lexus Skyline” panoramic sunroof as standard.

New interior design: simplicity, comfort and more space

Inside, the change is becoming more evident. The new ES adheres to a horizontal and clear cabin, where materials and design seek to convey calm and visual order. It debuts completely redesigned seats with side and shoulder reinforcements, and offers the possibility of equipping the reclining rear seats and an ottoman-type seat for the right rear passenger, designed for long journeys.

The luggage compartment grows to 500 litres, and gains length, depth and height compared to the previous model.

The driving mode includes a new 12.3-inch Lexus Digital Cockpit with graphics exclusive to the ES, and is located in a low position to reduce distractions. The gear selector is reduced to a “Lexus Smart Shift” switch, and electric versions add radiant heating to improve energy consumption.

“Invisible technology” and new multimedia system

One of the most notable developments is the “Lexus Invisible Tech” system, a set of integrated controls that simplify access to functions such as air conditioning, comfort or parking assistance without cluttering the console with buttons.

The multimedia system also takes an important leap. The new Lexus Advanced uses a 14-inch touchscreen and its own “Arene” operating system, which is capable of receiving over-the-air updates and integrating with Lexus Link+ connected services. Functions such as “Connect and Drive” allow you to detect radars and black spots, send tracks from your mobile phone, and use Spotify without consuming your own data or using the “Hey Lexus” voice assistant.

The Connect & Secure package adds a front-facing camera. com. dashcamRemote ignition lock in case of theft and GPS system in coordination with the police.

A digital key is also included that can be shared with up to seven users, and can be operated from a mobile phone or even a digital wallet card in case of low battery.

More safety: Safety+ and driver monitoring have evolved

The new ES comes with the latest version of Lexus Safety System+ 4 driver assistance system, which improves detection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, and pre-collision system.

In addition, there is a driver facial recognition system with a camera mounted on the steering column, which monitors the driver’s attention and detects signs of fatigue or discomfort. Emergency Assist, involuntary lane change warning, adaptive high-beam headlights and an advanced blind-spot detector complete the equipment.

Hybrid or 100% electric: Lexus’ two-way street

In the mechanical department, the new ES represents Lexus’ commitment to multi-technology with the updated GA-K platform to support hybrid and pure electric vehicles.

The ES 300h hybrid car introduces the sixth generation of the Lexus system for the first time, with a 2.5 4-cylinder engine with a power of 201 horsepower, in addition to a lighter lithium-ion battery and a new transmission. It is available with front- or all-wheel drive.

Electrically, the range starts with the ES 350e, with 224 hp and a 77 kWh battery, and peaks with the ES 500e, with all-wheel drive and 343 hp. Both will have a minimum range of 530 km WLTP pending approval, recharge from 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes thanks to 150 kW charging powers, and a battery pre-heating system to improve times in cold climates.

The brand will initially launch the “Signature” finish in both technologies, keeping the arrival price the same: 56,900 euros.
