The former Pixie coach pointed out that Neymar succeeded in shining thanks to the movements he made throughout the matches
Neymar is going through a difficult period after returning from injury, and is trying to restore prestige and hope within Santos. The star, a key name to avoid another relegation in the black and white, has already had some great moments for the club.
Between 2011 and 2013, Morrissey Ramalho was in charge of the team. The former Pixie coach indicated, in an interview with TMC São Paulo Radio, that the player was the best physically within the team. According to Morrissey, this happened because of the movements he made in the game.
“The strikers are not the best physically in the team in terms of training. But he was a very strong player physically, because he also relied, in addition to improvisation, on that issue to make the change of direction which he always did. In the tests we had, he was always the best in this regard.”
The coach also commented on the injuries that the star has suffered recently. Morrissey pointed out that injuries greatly affect the performance of the athlete, who loses his characteristics and behaves differently.
He pointed out: “Many years of playing have passed, and then injuries started, serious injuries. This affects the player a lot. He begins to lose some things that he had as a quality, especially his strength. He needs strength. Every now and then I see him playing, and he is different, he acts as a passer and organizer and not as a confrontation man, precisely because of the time he was absent.”
Nobody learns how to play
Finally, Morrissey emphasized how different Neymar is. The coach remembered the training that the star conducted for Santos and supported him until he regained his good level on the field.
“Of course he is different. I saw him not only in matches, but also in training, and that’s why he was one of the best players in the world. We encourage him to recover the physical side, because (he plays) unforgettable football, although he changes the way he plays, and acts more like a thinker than a man who strives for it.”
