Federal MP Nicolas Ferreira (PL-MG) took to social media and classified as “analog” the fire that struck one of the pavilions at COP30, held in Belem (Pennsylvania), this Thursday (11/20). The Minas Gerais native compared the incident to the record number of fires in the Amazon region during the administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
“The biggest record of fires in the Amazon was during Lula’s government. And now one of the main COP30 pavilions is on fire. I thought it was an act,” he wrote in X.

Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) also reacted. On his X profile, he posted a video with the caption “The German Chancellor was right. Lula insulted the lives of people in Pará.”
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made an insulting comparison between Brazil and Germany during a speech at a German trade conference.
When Merz praised the German economic environment, he mentioned that all the journalists who accompanied him in Belém, during the COP30 Leaders’ Summit, would be “happy” to return to Germany after the end of the event.
