Britanico wins at Interlagos, dedicates victory to Gil de Ferran and reinforces full focus on the final stage of the 2025 championship.
Lando Norris leaves Interlagos with everything he could dream of: a win, an increased lead in the championship, and a clear message to his opponents. The McLaren driver had one of the best weekends of his career at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, dominating all sessions and leaving Brazil with maximum points.
After crossing the finish line with authority, Norris dedicated the victory to McLaren’s former sporting director, Gil de Ferran, who passed away in 2023. “Winning in Brazil is always special. The energy here is unique,” he said. “This result is for Gil. He has been a mentor to me and I’m sure he would be very proud. It was a perfect weekend.”
Despite dominating, the impressive performance of Max Verstappen, who started from the pits and ended up in contention for second place, served as a warning to Norris. The Briton admitted that the Red Bull driver’s rise reinforces the need to maintain the pace and avoid any leniency.
“I’m very happy to win, but seeing how fast Max was today shows that we can’t relax,” he said. “I want to talk to the team to understand where we can still improve. I’m focused on continuing to work, ignoring the outside noise and continuing to push.”
Norris was also keen to praise McLaren for their continuous work throughout the year. “The team has done an amazing job. The car is strong and everyone is doing their best. These results are the result of a great effort on and off the track.”
The Brazilian stage witnessed Norris’ seventh victory this season and strengthened his position as a strong contender for the title. However, from now on, every detail could be decisive – and the Briton seems determined to maintain his aggressive stance until the last flag.
