Air Europe announced that the company’s representative, Jesús Nuño de la Rosa, will leave his position and responsibilities, after reaching an agreement with the President of Globalia, Juan José Hidalgo. The airline unveils its management after settling its debts with the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI) and gaining the backing of Turkish Airlines as an investor with 26% of the capital.
In turn, SEPI’s representatives on the airline’s board of directors, Cesar Hernandez and Juan Manuel Pogia, were introduced as advisors to the association once the company finished returning the loan.
The airline says in a statement that this decision was “placed within the current context of the company, which has made the advance payment for the loan granted by SEPI, with a year of anticipation regarding the originally scheduled closure.” Air Europa announces that the Board of Directors will be renewed in the next few days.
The company thanked Nuño de la Rosa for his “achievement, dedication and loyalty while serving in his position” since July 2022 and Hernandez and Boyjea for the work accomplished and his commitment during this period. Now, the airline will renew its board of directors.
At the beginning of November, Globalia Airlines was able to complete the necessary agreement to return the SEPI loan which included the acquisition of an inverter.
Thus, it was announced on November 6 that its agreement with Turkish Airlines had become effective through a loan exchangeable for a stake in Air Europa of up to 26%, with an investment of $300 million. With this, Air Europe was able to return the $475 million SEPI loan with one year upfront.
