Nvidia, the giant AI chip stock, will land in the north of the country. Nuevo Leon State Governor Samuel García noted that this million-dollar investment will be deployed in the next ten years and will have all the facilities to land. “Nvidia already has the land and everything ready for it to stabilize its investments. With this begins a new era, and now we want the industry of the future to arrive: chips, semiconductors, robotics, and of course artificial intelligence,” Garcia announced Wednesday at a company event in Mexico City. To facilitate the landing of Nvidia and other companies in the industry, the local government created the position of Undersecretary for Foreign Investment, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence with a local budget of P500 million.
In the race to develop artificial intelligence, Nuevo Leon intends to take the lead. In announcing the $1 million investment, the local governor boasted of Nuevo León’s industrial and logistical strength with a network of 260 industrial parks and an ecosystem of 4,500 companies. In addition, he announced the arrival of Equinix, one of the world’s largest interconnection and data center companies, on his territory: “Within a month, we will go to Washington and announce that Equinix will also install its data center in Nuevo León. The country is moving towards the future with what I will call the new model of green industry, which is betting on artificial intelligence, automation and green energy.”

After 20 months of work, NVIDIA aspires to position itself in technology projects in Mexico, said Marcio Aguilar, the company’s director. “What we will see today is the strength of the ecosystem in the country. We will get a lot of training, and it is a great honor on behalf of Nvidia to present all the competition that we have and put a pin on Mexico as a leading country,” he announced at the opening of the Artificial Intelligence Forum in the country’s capital.
In the same space, Rosaura Ruiz Gutierrez, Minister of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation of the Federal Government, commented that the revolution unleashed by artificial intelligence is already underway and Mexico cannot be left behind. The country’s science chief promised to open an investment window to develop these technological projects, as well as launch a residency program for researchers for a period of 3 to 6 months to work on computer nodes.
Last October, Nvidia broke a historic record in the stock market, as the market value exceeded five trillion dollars, a number that no company has ever reached. The company’s rise in the market is accompanied by the launch of new models and open data to accelerate innovation in artificial intelligence in language, biology and robotics, and Mexico will be a key player in developing these initiatives in Latin America.
