
A man accused of raping his granddaughter was arrested last Friday (11/14) in Sorocaba, inside São Paulo. He had been on the run for about six years and was found by the civil police following information that he was at the city bus station.
According to the incident report, the 61-year-old man was the target of a precautionary arrest warrant in connection with the crime that occurred in 2007. At the time, rape cases were classified as “violent indecent assault.” The victim was 9 years old.

After the conviction in Osasco, in the São Paulo metropolitan area, the man fled and began living in hiding in Sorocaba. After his arrest, he was taken to the headquarters of the Women’s Defense Police Station and placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Justice.
Authorities later reported that he was also being investigated for another recent rape. The details were not revealed so as not to affect the investigations, which are still ongoing.
