
A collision between a car and a tanker truck transporting diesel has kept AP-7 closed since Saturday at 2 p.m. At 9pm on Sunday it was still causing 13km of traffic jams. The cut occurred between Lamitla di Mar and Lampula (Tarragona), and although it did not cause any serious injuries, it caused major delays throughout the weekend, especially during the return operation.
Six firefighting teams rescued the truck driver on Saturday and neutralized the fuel leak, but vehicle removal work continued throughout the weekend.
A chemical hazard truck from the Firefighters Technology Hazard Intervention Group traveled to the scene to supervise the maneuvers. There were also various tanks transporting goods, which led to the road being cut off in both directions.
The operation took place around seven in the evening. on Sunday, but at the end of the day the car was still on the road. After the fuel was removed, it was still necessary to clear the road while the crane worked to remove the truck.
Vehicles were diverted along the N-340 highway, causing delays of several kilometers throughout the weekend. The Catalan Traffic Service recommended the alternative use of C-12 and C-44 aircraft.
