The President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García Peg, said today that the Supreme Court is conducting a “flawless” investigation into the case of the State Prosecutor, and made it clear that if he wanted to defend the Prosecutor he would not offer such a heated political defence.
In an interview on the Cadena Copé website, compiled by Europa Press, Emiliano García Page was asked about the actions taken by the state prosecutor, Álvaro García Ortiz, and whether he is innocent or not. In this regard, he said that he does not want to convict anyone, “unless a crime has been blatantly committed,” although he points out that the Supreme Court “is conducting an impeccable and very thoughtful investigation, with concessions to the defense in case they look for retractions later in the Constitutional Court.”
“If I had wanted to defend the prosecutor, I would not have presented such a heated political defence. Because the whole political cover, all the hype, is exactly what is being tried,” he said, noting that the more the case was “embellished” from a political perspective, the worse it would be for Alvaro García Ortiz.
In his opinion, “judges are close to being convinced that leaks or incorrect information do not have to be through a letter, but rather can be verbally first so that they are released and then the papers are passed.”
It is better to have no budgets than to have independent traffic fees
When asked about the lack of general state budgets, Garcia-Page sarcastically noted that perhaps it is “better not to have them than to have them with losses” for independents, which would be “ridiculous.”
In this context, she resumed her proposal to be open to the possibility of setting a budget along the lines of the European Commission, with the adoption of multiple annual accounts at the beginning of each legislative body that can be amended year after year on specific issues.
Agree to approve the statute
In another matter, he expressed his support for the consensus reached in his region between the Socialist Workers Party and the Popular Party, which will be established on Tuesday in the House of Representatives, which will discuss taking into account the new basic system for the region to open the amendment period.
Garcia Page pointed out that this new statute that begins its parliamentary journey in Congress “does not mess with anyone, does not claim powers, and does not enter into disputes with other independent bodies,” and is Magna Carta “completely loyal to the Constitution, its essence and its spirit.”
The district “does not want competitors to pamper or show off their bodies” and only intends to devote its efforts to managing “health, education and public services.”
He defended this by saying: “If we talk about it, doesn’t it make sense that there is no discussion? Spain is a country organized in a decentralized way to manage services with 17 engines. With autonomy, a rift has been avoided, where historical people have some rights and the rest have others. The scenario of only autonomy, historical nationalities and the rest lining up in Castellana would be very dangerous.”
For García Page, autonomy “defends equality among Spaniards more” than if this equality depended on the government in power. He added: “We now have more ability to talk about equality in the autonomous regions than Congress has room to maneuver when it waits for the vote of four independence supporters.”
For this reason, the region wants to “modernize the statute” on the basis of consensus, a consensus that was mandatory before plunging into the reform process.
