Depp signed autographs and posed for photos in front of hundreds of fans
Johnny Depp revolutionized the small screen with his encounter with Ferro Lozano. The actor, who is visiting Argentina to present his film “Modilane, Three Days in Montparnasse” (which today will take him to the soil of La Plata), had an extraordinary conversation in which he talked about everything and left several pearls.
With a live translator, the interview began with some tension on their part, and Depp, who was a little slower in his speech, was encouraged to tell something about his intimacy, especially regarding exposure to fame: “I don’t know if anyone can get used to that. I think it feels good to have support, to see that expression of respect and love and acceptance; people keep me alive.”
The program reviewed his career and asked Lozano if he regretted any job: “There were times when I didn’t realize what my life was like, my existence. There I thought: ‘Why am I doing this?’. But I don’t have the ambition to be anything. I still have the same hunger, the same drive and the need to create.”
The actor arrives in the city today to give a masterclass and present his film
Among those roles that he played throughout his career, Johnny couldn’t stop talking about Jack Sparrow from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and the inspiration that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards had in bringing this famous pirate to life. He admitted: “He is an idol, an icon. I started spending time with him and imitating the way he spoke. I saw him as the greatest rock star, a pirate, who could do whatever he wanted.”
Given the actor’s sensitivity, Lozano wanted to know about his role as a father, especially since he was always described as a Hollywood rebel. Regarding fatherhood, the actor highlighted: “One no longer sleeps the same way, and no one is better or more inspired in love. It is the purity that fills us, it is our purpose, our mind,” he said about his children Lily-Rose and Jacques Depp, the result of his ten-year relationship with the French model and singer Vanessa Paradis.
Lozano’s unfiltered question and the story with Brando
While investigating the family intimacy, Lozano went all out and asked a question about the acting side of Lily Rose, the artist’s eldest daughter, who recently became the heroine of the film “Nosferatu.” “See the things she does? Because she’s so naked sometimes,” the host said. “There are images that don’t need to be in your head,” Depp said amid nervous laughter. She said of her 26-year-old daughter: “I’m very happy, of course, because she’s doing a great job, but I asked her: ‘Should I see this?’ And she said: ‘No, no, Dad, you’d better not do that.’ I actually went to see Nosferatu at the cinema, and my friends were there to tell me when I should cover my eyes or keep my head down. She’s great, it was very good.”
In one of the most talked-about moments of the interview, Ferro asked him about his relationship with Marlon Brando, a situation that led to an unexpected anecdote with the flamboyant actor. “The first time we met was on the phone and we talked for three and a half hours; it was great. I hung up the phone and thought: Is this real? Did this happen? And a week later he was in Los Angeles and invited me to dinner. We talked for six or seven hours. We had a divine connection, that understanding of spirits, and, well, we became friends. We worked together three times. He was the king of jokes,” he said and then made way for a fun moment.
“I went to Ireland to make a film but I didn’t have any information about the character. I said to him: ‘I’ve got to read the script’ and he told me it wasn’t necessary. When I got off the plane I went to his house and in my pocket I had a device with which you could make some of the worst fart noises you could find. We hugged each other, sat on the sofa, and suddenly, I said to him: ‘I’ve got something in my stomach, it must be from the food on the plane and a couple of minutes later… the noise.’ He looked at me and said: ‘Oh, very good, Johnny.’
Today, in silver
Following the note, the actor showed off even more of his amazing charisma by coming out to greet his fans and making time to sign autographs and take photos with some kids. On the night, Depp held his film’s premiere in Buenos Aires amidst a spectacular show filled with local personalities.
Today he’ll have to pass through town, arriving to give a masterclass at the Podesta Coliseum with the hero of his film, Riccardo Scamarcio. Before that, he will be named the “Illustrious Visitor” of La Plata.
