Former Spanish footballer Andres Iniesta is embroiled in a complaint of alleged fraud in Peru against Never Say Never (NSN), which has prompted the Peruvian Attorney General’s Office to open an investigation against which the company denies the accusations and expects that it reserves the right to file suits to protect its honor.
The investigation is now in the hands of the first office of the Regional Criminal Prosecutor’s Office in San Isidro Lens, in the capital Lima, as confirmed by EFE.
According to information initially published by the Peruvian newspaper on Sunday LiberoThe complaint was filed by Gucho Entertainment and a group of Peruvian businessmen who claim they paid $600,000 to NSN to organize a series of sports and music shows in Peru.
However, most of these events did not happen and the liquidation of the subsidiary “NSN Sudamérica, after raising capital in Peruvian territory, was announced in June 2024, less than a year after the start of its commercial activities.”
According to the information, among the agreed-upon offers is a friendly match between Cienciano, from Peru, and El Nacional, from Ecuador. A duel of legends between Peruvian and Spanish teams and a South Korean pop music festival. As well as a friendly match in Miami (United States) between Sporting Cristal of Peru and Barcelona of Ecuador, which was held in December 2023, with losses for the organizers.
The complainants assert that they made the decision to invest that money in NSN when they saw that behind this company was Iniesta, a member of the most successful Barcelona team ever and a world champion with the Spanish team in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he scored the winning goal in the final match.
The company denies these accusations
“We categorically deny the accusations published in recent hours,” NSN and Andres Iniesta, the company’s co-founder, said in a statement.
The defendants added: “We regret that this information was published maliciously with the aim of benefiting from a public image,” expressing their confidence that the Peruvian judiciary “will clarify this situation very soon.”
“We reserve the right to take appropriate action to defend our work and honor, and we also request the utmost accuracy in all information published regarding this case,” they concluded.
NSN bills itself as a “specialized sports and entertainment team co-founded by world champion Andres Iniesta,” which offers “an integrated service that connects brands and audiences in an authentic way.”
