
A small plane crashed on Monday (10/11) in the Mito region, capital of Vaubés state, in the Colombian Amazon. Four people died, including three employees of the National Office of the Civil Guardian, the body responsible for organizing elections in the country.
According to a statement by Aerocivil, the single-engine plane, a Cessna C-206, registered HK-641 and operated by Nativ Air, took off from the Bucoa Quirari runway heading to Fabio Alberto Leon Bentley Airport, in Mito, but lost contact just two minutes after take-off.
Search and rescue teams were sent to the area. The plane was found completely burned, and authorities assume there are no survivors.

In a statement, the National Registrar expressed his regret over the death of employees Gabriel Gomez Sanchez, José Misael Silva Bernal, and Nadia Valentina Valencia Yepes, who were returning to Mito after completing the first day of registering citizens at polling stations located in remote areas.
“We express our deepest feelings of solidarity and send our sincere condolences to their families, co-workers and friends,” said National Registrar Hernan Penagos.
Aerocivil stated that the causes of the accident were still under investigation and asked the press and public to be careful to avoid publishing unverified information.
