According to the police report, the police team received an anonymous tip that there were individuals in a wooded area on Avenida Mario Garnero. The location is the same where three people were arrested days ago and a Honda Civic seized on suspicion of involvement in a robbery of the jewelry store in Iguatemi Shopping Centre.

In the woods, agents found a blue bag containing ten luxury Rolex watches, nine Cartier watches and 18 Tag Hauer watches, as well as other jewelry items such as a scapular and a chain with charms and signs. The materials were seized, presented to the police station, and delivered to the store owner.

Shots in the forest

As the agents moved deeper into the forest, the team heard gunshots, and when they advanced approximately 30 to 40 metres, they were the target of gunfire from “three or four individuals.” The police returned fire and shot the suspects.

Later, during a sweep of the site, officers found the body of a deceased person lying next to a long gun.
