More than 56,000 people demonstrated in defense of public health across Andalusia
More than 56 thousand people demonstrated in the eight Andalusian provinces in a march in defense of public health called by María Blanca, the unions UGT and CCOO, in which the demonstrators, under the slogan “In defense of our public health”, demanded the resignation of the head of the government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, chanting “Moreno, listen, the people are in the fight.”
According to data provided by the government mission in Andalusia, through National Police estimates, the number of demonstrators in the eight Andalusian provinces is approximately 56,700 demonstrators. Málaga is the Andalusian city with the largest number of demonstrators, with 20,000 demonstrators, followed by Granada, with 11,000 in the capital and 1,500 in Motril; Seville, more than 12,000; Cordoba, more than 4,000; Cadiz and Jaén with 3,000 respectively; Huelva: 1,200 and Almeria: 1,000.
This gathering was also attended by political leaders such as the Deputy Secretary General of the PSOE-A, María Márquez, and the spokesman for Adelante Andalusia, José Ignacio García, in Seville. and the General Coordinator of the University of Andalusia and his deputy in Congress, Toni Valero, in Malaga, who joined the protests over the failure in breast cancer screening and against the “privatization” of the Andalusian health system.
The statement in which the protest was called noted that Andalusian health care is going through a “serious crisis,” marked by “a widespread and planned deterioration,” which is manifested in “scandals such as errors in the breast cancer early detection program, with serious consequences for many women.” (Effy)
