Prepaid transportation, utilities and rents

The last month of 2025 begins tomorrow and brings increases in various areas. What services are increasing, from prepaid to electricity and gas prices.

Prepayment

As has become known, major prepaid pharmaceutical companies have already scheduled increases in their fees starting in December.

These increases are in line with the latest inflation data for October released by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).

With the Consumer Price Index (CPI) set at 2.3% for the 10th month of the year, the country’s major prepaid companies have already priced in their increases in their plan values.

Dependent fee mark-ups were higher than inflation in the health sector.

According to INDEC, in October it rose by 1.5% in Greater Buenos Aires (GBA) and 1.8% nationally. So far this year it has accumulated an increase of 22.7% and 28.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.

However, the increases in their plan values actually show a uniform trend, which is a slowdown compared to previous months where the values doubled.

In this way, the value of the shares corresponds to the October CPI:

-Galen: 2.3%.

-Swiss medicine: 2.3%.

-OSDE: 2.1% nationally and 2.5% in Patagonia.

– Health prevention: 2.3%.

-Avalian: 2.3%.

– German Hospital: 2.3%.

– Italian company: 2.3%.

-Sancor: 2.3% in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA).

However, there was a paid pharmaceutical company that reported adjustments to its monthly values to the government that were higher than the latest inflation data.

This is the Accord Salud, which increased in value by 2.4% and is positioned 0.1 percentage points above the CPI.

public services

Electricity and gas bills will continue to be updated monthly, taking inflation as a reference. The increases for December were determined by a series of decisions issued by ENRE (National Electricity Regulatory Authority) and ENARGAS (National Gas Regulatory Authority).

Electricity bills will receive an increase of 3.6% for Edenor and 3.53% for Edesor compared to the prices paid in November.

The ultimate impact on bills depends on the category of the user’s home. Those in Tier 1 will pay full price, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 keep the bonuses but are tied to consumption bands.

In this sense, the government presented the new support scheme focusing on vulnerable families, within the transition period towards targeted support, and arranged for public consultations where the new design will be presented.

Levels N1, N2 and N3 will cease to exist and will be divided into two large groups: households on benefits and households without benefits. This new scheme is expected to be implemented from 2026.

Rentals

Tenants who signed contracts governed by the repealed law regulating the rental market will have to face an increase of 28.67% for the last month of the year. In this way, the slowdown in rent increases is reinforced.
