Public security experts will hold a discussion at Niteroi – 11/28/2025 – session

The Chilean Eduardo Vergara, from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Colombian Hugo Acero Velázquez, former Minister of Security of Bogotá, and the Brazilian Alberto Kopetke, from the Safe City Institute, will participate on Tuesday (2) at the Forum on Public Security in Transversal Perspectives, in Niterói (RJ), where they will discuss new challenges and solutions to combat urban violence.

The invitation was made by the Mayor of Niteroi, Rodrigo Neves (PDT), who is hosting the 30th summit of the Mercocidades Network, an organization of local governments in South America. The Public Security Forum will be the opening event of the summit.

The theme of the summit, which will be held from December 3 to 5, will be “Pathways to resilient, peaceful and sustainable cities.” The meeting will include about 400 local authorities from cities in 12 Latin American countries, as well as representatives of international institutions, such as United Nations system agencies and development banks.
