Ralph Abreu, from Niterói and vice-world champion of Brazil for 2017, will compete starting Friday, the 14th, in an international tournament in Praia de São Francisco, in Niterói, the ITF BT 50 de Niterói, a competition with a prize pool of US$4,000 and ITF ranking points.
On Thursday evening, the former top 10 and Rio’s Joao Lauro Carneiro will meet their top rivals in the event.
“I am very happy to be back competing in an international tournament here in Niterói, my home country, where I usually play well and have good memories. Being able to play in the presence of my family, friends and students is a huge satisfaction, especially after a complicated year where I injured my knee and was unable to compete for almost eight months,” said the Dropshot-sponsored athlete who has support from Niterói’s Sports and Entertainment Department and Spider Undergrip.
Ralph won the tournaments in Montreal, Canada, and Manhattan Beach, in the United States, after his return last September.
